The purpose of the MTAP is to quantify the disabled individual’s perception of his or her ability to perform work tasks that involve the use of the spine in various ways. This is a meaningful way to provide a baseline measure of the individual’s perception of function which can then be compared to future re-evaluations. Subsequent testing with the MTAP will provide information about the individual’s perception of his or her progress in treatment or from an initial examination to a re-examination. More importantly, because the focus of the MTAP is on function, this will serve in maintaining the disabled individuals focus on function throughout clinical treatment.
The MTAP can help assess the degree to which the evaluee’s perception of capability has been colored by an emotional response to the dysfunction that may, in and of itself, be an important issue to address on a clinical basis.
When combined with the EPIC lift capacity an objective measurement of the individual’s true work capacity can be determined in order to either return the individual to an appropriate work level or released with the appropriate disability level.
If you have any questions on how the Multi Tasking Ability Profile (MTAP) can be utilized in a medical legal, Independent Medical Evaluation, or disability rating evaluation, or treating setting please ask to speak with Dr. Eric Pierra.
