NOT ALL RATINGS ARE THE SAME
For more than a decade Parthenia Medical Group physicians have been asked by Defense Attorneys, Claimant Attorneys, Insurance Carriers and Employers to perform and provide AMA rating evaluations (PPD - Permanent Partial Disability ratings), and to perform record reviews of AMA ratings submitted to them by other physicians.
Attorneys, Carriers and Employers all recognize that not all rating evaluations are performed correctly or tailored to the specific needs of the referring party, and have relied on PMG physicians to validate those ratings or point out the deficiencies.
PMG Can Provide Ratings in a variety of forms:
- Review ratings submitted to you by other physicians
- Perform records review with a rating critique using specific AMA Guides citations, and provide an appropriate rating.
- Perform a PPD (Permanent Partial Disability Rating Evaluation)
- Provide ratings when performing AME or QME evaluations, or when performing 4064(d) evaluations (this evaluation by statute permits either side to get the medical evidence they need) or 4050 evaluations.
QUESTION:
Why are these evaluations valuable?
ANSWER:
First, because the use of the AMA Guidelines to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment is new to California physician's ratings may vary greatly or be incorrect.
Second, because some physicians may learn to write diagnoses to maximize the rating desired. Ratings can be manipulated diagnoses can be inaccurate... even false!!!!!!
Third, causation can be inaccurately arrived at leading to acceptance of claims and PD ratings that should not be accepted, or over or under rated. 4064(d) evaluations can be critical in all areas.
